About The Clinician

Vale Hufford (they/them), attends Simmons University and is pursuing a Master’s in Social Work, expected August 2024. In their previous career in higher education administration, they worked with LGBTQIA+ communities and with marginalized populations. They were drawn to therapy and social work because they found meaning and purpose in helping college students during their hardest moments, for example when experiencing sexual assault, discrimination, or suicidal ideation.

Vale’s clinical style is eclectic with a foundation in strengths based and narrative therapy and elements of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. Their education at Simmons has given them knowledge of working with trauma, sexuality, substance use treatment, and child trauma and attachment, including taking an extra course in TF-CBT. Vale advocates for healthy relationships and is currently in a domestic violence prevention training program which will prepare them to lead trainings for best practices for therapists with nationally backed data.

Vales’s focus as a clinician is learning from clients and viewing them as the experts in their own experience. With passion for cultural competence, inclusion, and social justice, Vale seeks to continuously learn and educate themselves. As a therapist, Vale offers a safe(r) space where corrections of them are welcomed, as they are a continual learner. They are committed to augmenting and safeguarding their client’s health on a holistic level, seeing the whole person and their environment as relevant to the current struggles faced by the client.
