About The Clinician
Lizeth Hester is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a concentration in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She received her BS in Psychology from Bowie State University and her MSW from Howard University School of Social Work, with a concentration in Direct Practice and a focus on mental health. Her interests include trauma-informed care, identity and self-discovery, and supporting young people through major life transitions. She remains committed to ongoing professional development in clinical social work, behavioral health, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Lizeth has experience working across Washington, DC, Baltimore City, and Prince George’s County in crisis response, schools, colleges and universities, public health, behavioral health, family services, and court-involved settings. This includes service as an AmeriCorps member with the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC-DC). She has supported youth and families affected by homelessness, foster care involvement, school disengagement, teen dating violence, domestic violence, community and gun violence, and young parenthood. Although she has worked with a wide range of populations, she is passionate about helping young people and families make sense of the experiences that have shaped how they think, feel, and respond.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally responsive. She draws from CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Multicultural Therapy, and DBT-informed skills, and her work is guided by trauma-focused care, family systems, and attachment-informed perspectives. Drawing on her Black American and Venezuelan American background and her bicultural, multiethnic family experience, Lizeth understands the importance of culture, race, identity, and community in the therapeutic relationship. She believes therapy should be a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported, and that healing often happens through connection with ourselves, our relationships, and our communities.
Her ideal clients are preteens, adolescents, young adults, and families who are navigating emotional or behavioral challenges, trauma, identity and self-discovery, family or relationship concerns, and school or life transitions. She also welcomes adults, parents, and caregivers who want a supportive space to better understand themselves, strengthen relationships, and build practical tools for moving forward, even if they are not yet sure where to begin.
