About The Clinician

Tayra provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She has experience supporting clients through trauma, grief, emotional and behavioral concerns, family conflict, life transitions, medical trauma, chronic illness, and domestic violence.

Her approach is strengths-based and collaborative, with an emphasis on creating a safe, respectful environment where clients feel empowered throughout the therapeutic process. Trained in play and sand tray therapy, Tayra uses developmentally appropriate interventions to help children and adolescents express emotions, process difficult experiences, and build healthy coping skills. She also works closely with caregivers to strengthen communication and family relationships.

Tayra believes “self awareness without self compassion is a road to self destruction.” There is a difference between seeing yourself and accepting yourself. Self-awareness tells you where you are. Self-compassion gives you the courage to keep walking toward who you’re becoming. Without compassion, awareness becomes self-condemnation. With compassion, awareness becomes the beginning of healing. Gabor Mate says “Healing is not the absence of harm but the presence of connection” and Tayra believes we connect to ourselves first so that we can authentically connect to others.

Tayra has worked in community mental health agencies, nonprofit organizations, and military settings, providing individual and family therapy and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.

She welcomes clients at different stages of readiness for therapy and strives to meet each person where they are. Her goal is to help clients build insight, resilience, and meaningful, lasting change. When clinically appropriate and requested by the client, Tayra may also tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs by integrate different aspects for example faith-based principles or yoga into treatment.

Tayra provides services in English and Spanish.
