About The Clinician
Dean received his undergraduate degree in American History from Frostburg State University and earned his Master’s in School Counseling from George Washington University. While he initially planned to become a teacher, his path led him to counseling and advocacy. Dean has worked in a range of school and clinical settings across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, serving youth and families with empathy and dedication.
Dean began his career through AmeriCorps, offering intensive school and home-based case management in Baltimore City high schools. He later supported families in Howard County and transitioned into clinical roles serving transition-age youth in DC’s Wards 7 & 8. Most recently, Dean worked at George Washington University’s Student Health Center, coordinating care for students across campuses and engaging directly with students and their families.
Dean’s clinical focus is on helping clients develop self-awareness, resilience, and tools for emotional and relational growth. His interests include identity, self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, and issues relevant to communities of color. He enjoys working with adolescents, college students, and families.
Dean’s ideal client is someone who enters therapy with openness and a readiness to grow. He enjoys working with people who bring their authentic selves into the process, and he finds fulfillment in supporting clients as they explore identity, navigate challenges, and discover their strengths.
Dean believes in meeting clients where they are and gently encouraging growth. He helps clients reflect on where they want to change, assesses readiness, and move toward personal growth without pressure. His trauma-focused approach integrates both psychological and physical understandings of trauma’s impact on identity, relationships, and the body.
