“I prefer to think of my patients and myself as fellow travelers, a term that abolishes distinctions between ‘them’ (the afflicted) and ‘us’ (the healers). […] We are all in this together and there is no therapist and no person immune to the inherent tragedies of existence.“
– Irvin Yalom

About The Clinician
Tiye Lillard earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Her professional experience includes working with 988, Grassroots Crisis Intervention, Applied Behavioral Analysis clinics, mental health clinics, and The Arc of Howard County.
Tiye has experience supporting children and families through play therapy, child-led sessions, Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy, parent training, systemic family therapy, and structural family therapy. She primarily works with teens, young adults, and adults.
Tiye’s clinical approach focuses on viewing each client as a whole person and ensuring that their fundamental needs are recognized and supported. Her areas of focus include nervous system regulation, somatic therapy, core beliefs, radical acceptance, and helping clients develop greater stability and self-understanding.
Trauma-focused care guides Tiye’s practice by helping her understand the lens through which clients view themselves and the world. She works gradually and collaboratively with clients to develop a new perspective in which past trauma no longer controls their core beliefs, choices, or actions.
Tiye specializes in supporting clients experiencing depression, anxiety, postpartum depression or anxiety, ADHD, autism, OCD, PTSD, neurodiversity, relationship distress, career concerns, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexuality-related concerns, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and women’s issues.
