About The Clinician

Chioma received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge, and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Marshall University along with a graduate certificate in Violence, Loss, and Trauma Counseling.

Chioma has over a decade of experience working with adolescents and young adults. She began her career as a dance teacher for children ages 3-18 and later became a classroom teacher and cheerleading coach for high school students. In these roles, she has served as a confidant and mentor, strengthening her empathy and compassion.

Chioma has also worked as a program officer in a college counseling center, acting as the first point of contact for students and faculty, mediating between clients and clinicians in crisis situations, and emphasizing the importance of mental health care in academia. Her main areas of focus are individuals seeking to be supported during a season of change, and providing trauma-informed and culturally sensitive counseling for couples, families and groups.

Chioma uses a strengths-based approach to help you build confidence in the skills you already have. She couples this with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and REBT to assist you in combating and silencing the illogical or irrational beliefs you may hold about yourself and the world. All of this is done through a compassionate lens, with you in the driver’s seat, as she encourages your self-exploration.

Chioma is the right fit for someone ready to embrace change and willing to be supported in achieving different results in their life. She is particularly inclined to work with adolescents, college students and young adults, women, and African-American and minority populations seeking a stronger sense of self.

Chioma feels most equipped to handle issues related to teens with single parents, teens with absent fathers, personal identity formation, relationship/family/betrayal trauma, hyper-independence in women, boundary setting in relationships, parentification trauma, feelings of unworthiness and inadequacy, as well as poverty trauma.

Chioma embraces change as a constant and believes that therapy often serves as a catalyst for broader changes. She emphasizes the importance of informing and supporting clients through this transformative process. Chioma believes that personal transformation starts from within and that our external world reflects our internal processes. She sees each individual as their own solar system, where one disruption affects the whole. Her goal is to help clients confront and transform what constricts them, leading to an expansive and fulfilling life.
