Yolanda is a licensed graduate marriage and family
therapist committed to treating individuals, couples, and families. Her clinical interests lie in treating couples’ issues in periods of transition (preparing for marriage, parenthood, or divorce), couples in crisis, loss, and issues related to life cycles.

Yolanda is a self-proclaimed foodie and loves to try new recipes (especially desserts). Yolanda loves laughter, so a good comedy is just as delicious as a tasty dessert. She is passionate about advocating for the underserved, marginalized and exploited (a Shared Hope Ambassador). Yolanda also enjoys worshiping & celebrating her faith with family and friends. Nature is her favorite place to be.

Yolanda’s Approach:

Yolanda uses Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused therapy, and Narrative & Collaborative therapies with clients to support their individual and relational goals. Using an integrative model of change, she highlights the strengths of different theories to fit the client’s identified needs. She believes everyone has a story, and these stories create the meaning of life and how we experience ourselves, as well as others. Using this perspective, she can begin on a CBT level to work on increasing an understanding of how cognition influences behaviors and traditions. The treatment continually addresses underlying emotions and how the client(s) functions contextually, thus identifying where progress may be constrained.
